I'm branching out a little.
Sometimes it's just easier to show you
than to write it all out under a still shot.
So this is for "Weedy" who asked about setting up to hand-quilt.
I would love your feedback.
Also, if there is something you have a question about,
feel free to ask.
I might not know the answer,
but can share what I do or offer a resource if I know of any.
There are times when seeing how someone else
does something helps us to figure out what we have going on.
*I called it "stencil fabric" should be "stencil material."
Also, will work on eliminating the sound "uh" from my vocabulary :-)
I actually did my hair and put on make up
knowing I wasn't going to film myself.
I'm a bit camera shy.
If this is a positive way to share information,
I will relax a little "on screen."

A good video. It was nice hearing your voice. I think you speak very well. I could tell you were a little nervous at first. I don't blame you I would be stuttering and sputtering. I have always wondered about one of those big round quilting frames that is on a stand. Have you tried one of those. It looks like a huge hoop on a stand. I don't quilt. I just like tools. ;)
ReplyDeleteI like those as long as the hoop isn't so big I can't reach to the middle. I do like a frame or stand especially for larger pieces so the weight of the quilt isn't being held up by my arm. :-)

DeleteYou have the right tone of voice (not irritating, lol) and your method is good so I think you should go for it. For every demo out there, there are thousands who could benefit from them.

ReplyDeleteCan't seeeee you, but your voice is very pleasing. And this in itself, is a lovely quality. Some women's voices are... Anything but pleasing, sadly. And less so, the more excited they become. -smile-
I do hope that those who quilt, will be happy with your instructions.

DeleteI'm not a hand quilter I'm afraid - although if I were to do a small-ish quilt I might consider it. I'd far rather play with embroidery for some reason.

Thanks for sharing. I loved to hand quilt, but I started getting carpel tunnel. My husband got me a quilting sewing machine. I miss hand quilting. You did a great video.
ReplyDeleteOh, you did a wonderful job and you have such a sweet voice! My grandma always quilted in a hoop (which I have), so it was interesting to hear how you do it. I greatly admire those who quilt! Someday when I "grow up" I intend to try it ;). But I do agrees with other commenters- I wish you would have popped into the frame, fixed hair and all, so I'd have a face to put with the voice! But this is a wonderfully brace start :)
