~Hold onto Your Hats~

Happy New Year!
There is so much to share,
but all in due time.
We have a beautiful -8 degree morning
out here in Oregon to kick off 2015.
One exciting thing is my honey got me a new computer for Christmas.
Well, new to me (it's actually a couple years old.)
The only glitcher is it's a Mac
so I have to learn how to operate it.

There are times when computers make me grumble
and others when I think they are just the cat's meow.
One of the meow bits is that
there are so many talented folks out there,
and I love learning.  So, when I ran across
the post that Connie shared, I was thrilled.
You can see it here.
How to make fabric twine.
It's one of those things that makes me think...
Why didn't I think of that.
I love it!
I am rather frugal (no kidding:)
so I save scraps that are too skimpy for anything 'real.'
Here is what I have done so far.

With that,
I will wish you all glad tidings
and a healthy, happy, and prosperous new year.

Until next time,
Nimble Fingers and Even Stitches

  1. Hello there! Your project looks like a neat one! :) I will look into it...

And about the MAC, we bought one a few years back and I told hubby he could just use it as I wasn't going to change from what I was used to. However, my computer needed to be packed for a few months during our move and I was forced to use the MAC for a few months. After that, I couldn't go back to the old computer. I am now hooked. Hope you will be too :)

Have a happy and healthy New Year!

    1. Haven't had much of a chance to 'play' with it yet - just got it up and going so it's usable from our remote location:) I've only heard positive comments so am looking forward to good times.

  2. You're 20 degrees lower than us, so I guess I won't complain. :-) Hope your coming year is a great one.

    1. This cold snap isn't supposed to last as long as the last one - we can hope. Happy 2015.

  3. Good luck with your Mac. I love mine.
The twine is interesting and a good way to use all those scraps, but what do you use it for?

    1. Great question~ I thought it would be good for tying presents since we like to wrap presents in fabric (to the gals) or even to hang a line for laundry indoors. I also like to tie certain groups of books together at times - usually to be removed later, but then at least to refer from one to another, they are together. I don't foresee needing miles of the stuff, but do like that I can use my scraps for something potentially useful:)

  4. Your snow is lovely. We are snow deprived in these foothills.
Twine from scraps, who knew? Thanks for sharing and Happy New year!

  6. Could you use it to make a fabric bowl maybe, sewing the layers together like you would a braided rug?

    1. Kathy, I love this idea. I had actually thought about making a market basket. I don't know how to make the fabric bowls nor a market basket so would have to learn something new:)

  7. We turned into a Mac family about 10 years ago. So, I can ball a little, maybe!
I can find out an answer for you. I am able to do more than I thought I would be able to. It does take a little getting used to and we bought "Word" for Mac so that helped. Love your snow! I have no idea what things will look like when we get home. There has been snow and it melted here and at home! We have cameras up all around the house so we can see everything there. Whave seen snow and seen it melted and it has been fun to watch.

Good luck with your Mac and I think you will like it if you keep at it until you understand. I don't think I could go back to a PC now!
    Hugs,
    Betsy
